V Lakshmikumaran is the founder and managing partner of Lakshmikumaran and Sridharan Attorneys, a premier law firm in India. With more than four decades of experience, he specialises in tax (both direct and indirect), customs and international trade laws, including trade remedies, and intellectual property rights. Before starting LKS, he was an officer in the Indian Revenue Services.

He has represented clients in hundreds of cases before the Supreme Court of India and various high courts, many of which have led to landmark judgments. He has also represented clients in the EU, the US, Australia and Canada, and has argued trade remedy cases before the WTO Dispute Settlement Body and the Appellate Body.

Recently appointed as a distinguished fellow at NITI Aayog, he advises the Indian government on initiating policy initiatives in the fields of economic laws, trade and investment, among others. He also advises the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry and participates in various free trade agreement and WTO negotiations, and other legislations initiated by the ministry.
